The Curse is broken!!

Published by Axel on 20th June - 14:41 (CET)
68 years has passed since Cleveland Indians won the 1948 World Series against Boston Braves.
52 years has passed since Cleveland Browns defeated Baltimore Colts in the 1964 NFL Championship Game. Cleveland Cavaliers - a franchise born in 1970 - have never won the NBA Championship, until yesterday that is.

Congratulations to The Cavaliers, and all Cleveland who finally managed to get a ring back to the city cursed by the gods of sports. The curse is officially broken!

Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Golden State Warriors with 93 - 89 in Game 7, the only game in this series that was any close. In doing so the Cavaliers became the first team in NBA history to come back in the Finals after being down 3 - 1 in games.

Kevin Love, a player often criticized for his weak defense had a great game overall and his defense on Steph Curry in the 4th quarter was one of the reasons the Cavaliers managed to get out of the Oracle Arena with a win. Love had 9 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a game high + / - of +19.

But lets talk about the real hero here. LeBron James had one of the best individual final series performances we've ever seen. He ended Game 7 with a triple double of 27 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. He also got 3 blocks 2 steals, and is now the only player in NBA Finals history to lead both teams in points per game (29.7), rebounds per game (11.3), assists per game (8.9), steals per game (2.6) and blocks per game (2.3).

To put that in contrast, here's a list of some of the best final series performances in history:

Since his "supporting casts" consisted of other superstars he teamed up with in the finals he actually won I'm not very fond the notion that he's always doing it on his own. But it's hard to not give him most on the credit on this one, and by most of it I mean almost all of it.
I think the late 4th quarter play above describes this series in a nutshell. LeBron snubbing the Warriors of the title with a spectacular late game block in what was his 3rd "fuck-you-game" in a row.
The Splash Brothers once again had a pretty disappointing series with Steph Curry averaging 22.6 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 3.7 APG, 0.9 SPG and 0.7 BPG while shooting .403 in FG% and .400 in 3P%. Klay Thompson averaged 19.6 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 1.9 APG, 1.0 SPG and 0.6 BPG while shooting .427 in FG% and 0.350 in 3P%.

The Warriors best player this series was the one who managed to get himself suspended, which proves that god, karma, yin & yang and all that bullshit exists!

As for the Warriors as a team this means that they are now the only team in NBA history to lose the finals after being up 3 - 1 in games. It also means that they now have lost as many games in the playoffs this year as in the regular season (9). It doesn't say much, but it's pretty cool.
Remember... 73 - 9 don't mean a thing without the ring!

Anyways, it has been a very entertaining season overall, and it's great to see the conferences getting a bit more balanced with the East bringing home the title this year. Lets hope for an equally entertaining off season.

PS. I also wan't you to note that ESPN's Stephen A. Smith is a worse analyst (no he's not an entertainer, entertainers are supposed to entertain) than a regular coin.
He has now incorrectly have predicted the winner of the finals 6 years in a row. This is quite incredible since you only have a 1.6% chance of doing the same thing by just flipping a coin...
