HOLDAT! Carlos Boozer is aiming for a comeback

Published by Axel on 30th June - 23:26 (CET)
Former All-Star, Olympic gold medalist and by no doubt NBA's loudest player Carlos Boozer has aspirations to join the league again for the upcoming season.

"I have been working out hard all year, and I miss the game. I want to play again."

"The previous season with the Lakers was a tough year, Kobe got hurt, Steve Nash went down and we had a young group still learning to win. I ended up taking the next year off, spent time with my kids and family and right now my body feels great. I feel terrific."

"I've been in the league for 13 years, and played in All-Star Games and been part of a gold-medal team in the Olympics, and I think that I can be a help in a mentoring role"

"I think I can help some younger guys. I've played against Karl Malone and Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan and picked up a lot of things that can be helpful to young guys. I really like the opportunity of having a role on a team where I can give back on the knowledge that I’ve gained through the years."

Over 13 seasons Boozer averaged 16.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.4 blocks in 31.2 minutes per game.

He declined a lot in his last season with the Bulls in 2013 - 14, where he saw his role diminish from previous years. So much that the Bulls chose to pay him $16.8 million not to play for them the upcoming season.

His post game is mostly gone and his defense doesn't exist anymore, if it ever did.
But his mid-range jumper is still on point, and he holds an impressive .521 career average in field goal percentage.

Boozer last played during the 2014 - 2015 season, for Los Angeles Lakers.
There he averaged 11.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists in 23.8 minutes per game while shooting .499 in FG%

"I'm curious to see where a lot of these free agents land in the next couple of weeks and see where I can fit in on a team"

So are we! Back to Cleveland where he once was drafted to chase a ring?
Not likely, Cleveland fans aren't very fond of Carlos after what he pulled back there in 2003. Remember?

Since Boozer was drafted in the second round (35th overall) he was on a very cheap contract.
But he already averaged 15.5 points and 11.4 rebounds per game in his second season with the Cavs, so their front office wanted to award him for his strong play and worked out a deal with Boozer's agent to get him out of his second round contract, so that they could resign him on a much larger contract and compensate for his low pay the previous seasons.

When the free agency actually took place, Carlos choose to sign another big contract with Utah Jazz instead...

So maybe he'd like to go to Miami? He owns a house there, and it's in Miami he's been traning 5 - 6 days a week for a year or so.

But there aren't many young players on that roster to "mentor" as he sees himself doing, and the truth to be told there is no way he gets to choose his destination with what could be expected of his current production on the court.

He's still probably a great locker room guy and brings a lot of energy from the bench just by sitting on it, just watch the video below!
